One of my favorite recurring jokes with myself (yes, I really have my own favorite recurring jokes I like to tell myself) is usually some form of: I thought college would be different. Where are all of the girls who like Empire! Empire!?
It’s not much of a joke, but neither are any of my jokes. I think this humors me because I romanticize everything that probably shouldn’t be romanticized. Or that I just love this band so much that any and all jokes about them are funny to me. Or that I think my on-and-off sadness is hilarious. Or that I have a borderline(?) sick fondness for my own shitty jokes. Probably all true. You don’t know me, bitch, you ain’t know me.
